Year 8’s visit the BBC!

Finding out all about broadcasting

Miss Davis (English Department) organised a exciting tour of the BBC studios in Birmingham for a group of Year 9 students last week.  She said, "We had a fantastic tour from the BBC representatives.  The pupils  had the opportunity to see how the production manager runs the show and decides which camera shots to use and then they had a go at presenting the news and weather themselves!  We even recorded had a go at our own radio drama and learnt that the sound technicians use lego in glasses to make it sound like ice.
All of the staff at BBC were very complimentary of our pupils and commented that they were some of the best behaved pupils they had ever had on the tour."
Student Tom Bailey commented, "My trip to the BBC studios was exciting and engaging. We found out what happens behind the scenes and learnt a lot about the production of news.  I enjoyed this trip very much!"
