A Whole School PSHE/Citizenship Enrichment Day – Activities galore!
Students focus on key life skills in and out of the classroom
On Tuesday 20th October PTC staff and all students took part in an Enrichment day that focussed on Health-related issues and Safety (Years 7-10) and Careers related activities (Year 11). Sessions included workshops on Anti-bullying and Cyber-bullying for Year 7; Personal Safety and a visit to the Safeside centre in Birmingham for Year 8; Nutrition and Sexual Relationship Education for Year 9; Emotional and Mental Health issues for Year 10 and Personal Statements and College Applications for Year 11. Many thanks to our special guests who joined us at PTC to deliver some of the workshops along with PTC staff such as our friends from Halesowen College and the Dogs Trust to work with Year 11’s and a Police Officer Paul to work with Year 11.
Miss Moore, PSHE Co-ordinator said, “A brilliant day! Students were involved in an array of activities, based on their PSHE and citizenship curriculum. Year 8 particularly enjoyed their visit to Safeside in Birmingham. An interactive workshop with scenarios acted out by students from the local university in Birmingham, each scene was tailored to real life situations a 13 year old may face. They were able to develop an awareness of their own and others personal safety and know what to do in an emergency.
I look forward to our next PSHE and Citizenship day as well as enjoying further input from our close relations built up with local external agencies such as Paul our Youth Police Officer and the Brook in Dudley”.
Our next Enrichment Day will take place on Wednesday 9th December.
