Team PTC design our school's rugby shirt with England Rugby!

Our year 8 and 9 team of four design PTC's rugby team shirt as we celebrate becoming part of the CBRE All Schools Programme.   Click on the photo for the whole story

We are delighted to announce that we have been joined the CBRE All Schools programme  - a nationwide programme designed to create a sustained celebration of rugby and a lasting legacy for school children, schools and communities. CBRE All School’s provide each participating school with a bespoke three-year delivery plan and package of funding, resources and support linked to a local rugby club - ours being the Old Halesonians Rugby Club.

We were the only Stourbridge school on the programme and as such represented our area at a workshop at the Old Halesonians RFC recently, for new CBRE Schools.  The workshop was to custom-design our own school rugby shirt!   Representatives from RFU were joined by the Director of Canterbury (the design/manufacturers of the British Rugby Team kit, also part of the CBRE All Schools Programme).  The workshop included interactive sessions on the importance of the rugby shirt, practicalities of design and the opportunity to work with the Canterbury team to produce a meaningful design for our school.   Canterbury will be converting the designs to produce 20 shirts for our school team!  The designs will also be displayed on huge digital boards around Twickenham Stadium, the home of England of PTC rugby shirt design team, Canterbury and RFU representatives

The organisers were so impressed with the teamwork and attitude shown by our student team that they awarded each with a match rugby ball.  The team successfully completed their shirt design on the day so the Canterbury area team could pass this onto the national production team immediately.

Mr McGlade, Subject Leader for PE said, "With this fantastic opportunity provided by England RFU we will develop a clear pathway into rugby for all of our students, provide them with more access to rugby in school and increase the uptake of this great sport. The overall aim is to boost the number of students playing rugby nationally, leading to an improvement in the national team.  It would be fantastic to find out in the future that we have a national player in our school.  If rugby is something you have not done, try it. Regardless of your gender, ability or fitness, rugby is a sport for everyone and develops key skills that make you successful in life.  I would encourage all students to give it a go and hope that parents would support this superb initiative as well".
