Hay Festival Fun 2018
Students learn all about literature and careers in writing at the Hay Festival 2018
On Friday 25th May, Mrs Smith, Manager of the Independent Learning Centre took members of our student Book Club and librarians to the Hay Festival. Students and staff had a great time listening to leading authors about their work and finding out about a wide range of literature about to be published. Here’s a few comments from some of the students who went on the day.
“Hay Festival 2018 was a fantastic experience for everyone who attended. There were some amazing opportunities to meet many authors, such as Sally Nicholls, Eoin Colfer and David Almond. We were able to listen to these inspiring people share their stories, and we even had the chance to get our books signed and take photos.”
“Hay was an exceptional, enriching experience. My love for books was vividly resurrected. My favourite part was the excellent book store.” – Georgi, Year 9
“The writers’ speeches were very interesting and inspirational. Ever since I have heard the authors, I have been inspired to read more books and write my own novel.” – Iamah, Year 8
Hay was a brilliant event, and we are already looking forward to next year!”
