Actions speak louder than words.
Our first value states 'Everyday in every way our students come first' - very easy to say, but meaningless if unproven.
Over the last few months during these unprecedented times we have proven we live by this value time and time again.
Across our Trust we have delivered over 6000 virtual lessons, our students have spent almost 400'000 minutes in a virtual classroom with one of their teachers in the last 2 months (April & May)
Our staff have taught over 6500 hours in the last 2 months (April & May)
Our students have attended lessons 111'834 times in 2 months (April & May)
2 weeks of April were a school 'holiday'......
Over 75% of the students have attended virtual lessons, keeping in mind Year 11 students account for around 20% of our students! Meaning almost all of our students attend several virtual lessons every week, we are in the process of supplying equipment to students that do not have access to the online content.
Our IT support team created the virtual learning platform in one week, and our teaching team and students absolutely embraced it.
We do not know of another school or Trust in the area that have delivered anywhere near this level of engagement for students.
We are creating a virtual tour for ALL of our schools and ALL department leaders are creating induction videos to ensure our new starters feel confident, comfortable and safe when they do join us. No matter what the challenge we aim to make transition as smooth as possible, we really want our students to hit the ground running, whatever their pace!
All of the above would not be relevant during 'normal' times, but hopefully you can see that whatever the new 'normal' is, we will be ready, because everyday, in every way our students come first.
Where possible we have, safely, used the time to improve the school environment and facilities for our students.
